Sam Baldock named Pathway Development Coach at Brighton & Hove Albion
- The move comes seven years after former forward Baldock played a key role in the Seagulls' promotion to the Premier League
Sam Baldock has joined Brighton & Hove Albion as Pathway Development Coach – seven years after playing a major part in the club’s charge to the English Premier League.
Football Careers Client Sam spent four seasons as a player with the Seagulls and scored 12 goals in the 2016/17 season as the club clinched promotion from the EFL Championship.
Brighton has since gone from strength to strength in the top flight, and now Baldock’s role will be to help continue that rise by strengthening the production line of talent at the Amex Stadium.
In an exciting, newly created position, Sam will be responsible for establishing and developing a pathway for each squad player, and will also oversee the progress of loan players.
It is a fresh challenge for the 35-year-old, who was forced to retire from playing last season after a string of injuries blighted his final spell at boyhood club Oxford United.
That brought the curtain down on a 20-year career that encompassed 429 senior games and 121 goals. Sam also played for MK Dons, West Ham United, Bristol City, Reading, and Derby County, and was capped by England at the U20 level.
