Mark Ross has started to put the foundations in place for a big 2023 for the young players at League of Ireland First Division club, Wexford FC, after his appointment as Head of Academy.
Football Careers client Mark, who holds both the coveted UEFA Elite Youth A and UEFA A coaching licences, has strong ties to the area he is working in. He has settled there after starting his coaching career at Wycombe Wanderers in England before working and learning as a coach in both Wales and Spain.
Now he has a key role developing talent at the club who finished sixth in the LOI’s second tier last time out.
Mark has a deep knowledge of the emerging talent in the Wexford area as he has worked in the Schoolboys and Youth leagues there in recent years. Wexford are also landing a coach who for the last seven years has been involved in the Football Association of Ireland’s Emerging Talent Programme.
Before the festive period began, Mark’s planning was in full swing as he laid out the program structure for the coaches and players ahead of 2023. He has assembled a coaching team for each key age group and he said:
“We have welcomed to the Academy a young, focused and qualified player-centred coaching team. I believe we have got ourselves a fantastic group to help develop players as they start their journey in the League of Ireland.”
