Kurt Herd Appointed New Assistant Manager of Penicuik Athletic
- Kurt brings a wealth of experience to the role, having coached at clubs in Scotland, Sweden, Australia, and Malaysia
Kurt Herd has been appointed as the new assistant manager of East of Scotland Premier League club Penicuik Athletic.
The well-travelled Football Careers client is set for an exciting new challenge next season in what will be a pivotal year in his coaching development as he works under new Cuikie gaffer David Hannah.
Penicuik operates in the sixth tier of Scottish football in a division that feeds into the Lowland League which is the pathway to the SPFL pro ranks.
Both Herd and Hannah share a passion for travelling the globe to further themselves as coaches with Kurt already having stints in Sweden, Australia, and Malaysia under his belt.
Former Dundee United and Celtic midfielder Hannah — most recently the Technical Director of top youth club Halifax Dunbrack in Nova Scotia, Canada — has also become a respected figure in the technical area in North America since he hung up his boots.
Now with Kurt also building towards his UEFA A Licence in the year to come, the pair will work together to fuel Penicuik’s drive to move up the pyramid in the Scottish game.
Athletic finished seventh in the East of Scotland Premier this time around and have made two ambitious appointments as they bid to improve on that in season 2023/24.
Kurt, experienced as a coach at the Academy level in Scotland, most recently added to his CV with a stint coaching the U16s side of Premiership club Livingston and with his work as Player and Coach Development Officer at Dundee West FC.
