Darren O’Dea Announced as Celtic’s Professional Player Pathway Manager
- O'Dea had previously been the Head Coach of Celtic's B team
- He also began his playing career for the club, winning two league titles
We are pleased to say that Football Careers client Darren O’Dea has been appointed as Professional Player Pathway Manager at Celtic Football Club. This is an internal move within the Glasgow club, having previously been Head Coach of the Celtic B side since June 2022.
O’Dea began his playing career at Celtic, with a senior career at the club that lasted from 2006 to 2012 – seeing him win two league titles, a Scottish Cup and a League Cup. He then went on to play in England, Canada (with MLS side Toronto), Ukraine and India before ending his career in Scotland with Dundee. He also made 20 appearances for the Republic of Ireland.
He ended his playing career in 2019, and took a role as Motherwell’s U18 manager, before then moving back to Celtic. His new role as Professional Player Pathway Manager will see him work alongside Brendan Rodgers, the Head of Academy Coaching and the coaches of the B team and academy sides in order to ensure the best development of Celtic’s youth players and their pathway to first team football.
In an interview with the club’s own media channels, O’Dea stated “In this new role, I will be working between our Academy structure and the first-team environment to ensure that we do all we can to provide the very best pathway and levels of support to allow our young players to reach their full potential and to ultimately deliver at first-team level.”
Football Careers wishes O’Dea and Celtic Football Club all the best for the future.
