Craig Joyce’s Queen’s Park Become Scottish Power WPL2 Champions
- The Spiders have won the league with five games to spare
- Craig Joyce's side sealed the league with an emphatic 6-1 win against Stirling University
Football Careers client Craig Joyce has won the Scottish Power WPL2 with Glasgow side Queen’s Park. The Spiders clinched the title in stunning fashion after running out 6-1 winners against Stirling University. The result left them 18 points ahead of second placed Kilmarnock with five games to spare.
Craig has been in the role since June 2022, and we’re delighted to see the success he has brought to the club. It’s been a spectacular season from the side as they’ve won 19 of their 23 games this season, scoring 85 goals and conceding just 17. This leaves them with the best attack and defence in the division and a thoroughly deserved promotion.
The performance against Stirling University was the icing on the cake with a dominant display. The star of the show was Megan Quickley – one of the three changes to the line-up that Joyce had introduced before the game. She forced the opening goal (an own goal from Stirling) with an excellent driven cross across the face of goal, before scoring two of her own.
Their league win sees Queen’s Park – who play at New Tinto Park in the Govan area of Glasgow – promoted to the top tier of Scottish Women’s Football. This will see them face up against fellow Glasgow sides Celtic, Rangers and Glasgow City next season as they aim to make their mark on the division. We’re extremely proud of Craig Joyce and his Queen’s Park here at Football Careers and wish him all the success next season and beyond.
