- Woodman's side beat Solihull Moors on penalties to secure promotion
- Bromley have reached the Football League for the first time in their 132-year history
Football Careers client Andy Woodman has won promotion to the English Football League with Bromley FC.
Woodman’s professional playing career spanned 17 years and saw him play for 12 clubs, including Crystal Palace, Brentford and Oxford United. Following his retirement from professional football in 2006 while at Rushden & Diamonds, the 52-year-old took up the assistant manager role at the club before teaming up with ex-teammate Alan Pardew at West Ham United, Charlton Athletic and Newcastle United.
After five years on Tyneside, Woodman once again joined up with Pardew to become a coach at former club Crystal Palace, before making his first steps into management with National League South side Whitehawk in 2017. After securing the club’s safety, Woodman left Whitehawk and subsequently took on the role of Head of Goalkeeping at Premier League side Arsenal prior to taking on managerial duties at Bromley FC in 2021.
Having finished third in the National League, Bromley eased past Altrincham in the play-off semi-final to reach the final against Solihull Moors. With the final still level after extra time, Woodman’s side claimed a historic victory after beating the Midlands-based club 4-3 on penalties. Bromley’s victory means the club have reached the English Football League for the first time in their 132-year history.
Here at Football Careers we congratulate Andy on his recent success and wish him and his side all the best for their maiden campaign in the Football League.
